How to Set Up Your Ledger Hardware Wallet | Ledger

Setting up your Ledger hardware wallet is the first step towards securing your cryptocurrency. Whether you’ve purchased the Ledger Nano S Plus or Ledger Nano X, the setup process is simple and straightforward. Here’s a quick guide on how to set up your Ledger hardware wallet:

Step 1: Download Ledger Live

Start by downloading the Ledger Live app from the official Ledger website for your desktop or mobile device. Ledger Live is the companion app that connects with your Ledger device to manage your cryptocurrencies securely.

Step 2: Initialize Your Ledger Device

Once the app is installed, connect your Ledger hardware wallet to your computer or mobile device using the provided cable or Bluetooth (for the Nano X). Choose the option to “Set up as new device” and follow the on-screen prompts.

Step 3: Create a PIN

To protect your device, you will be asked to create a 4–8 digit PIN code. This PIN will be required every time you access your wallet.

Step 4: Write Down Your Recovery Phrase

You will be shown a 24-word recovery phrase. This is crucial for recovering your wallet if you lose your device or forget your PIN. Write it down on paper and store it in a secure location—never share it with anyone.

Step 5: Install Crypto Apps and Add Accounts

Use Ledger Live to install the apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). Add your crypto accounts and begin managing your assets securely.

With your Ledger hardware wallet set up, you can now safely store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies, all while keeping your private keys offline and secure.
